So, I didn't think this was a W7 thing, but anyway.

My W7 ultimate pc has just had a memory dump, blue screen, then shut down.

I can't get it to restart, there's some disk activity but whatever it's doing, it's not completing. This might be a shot in the dark, but does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do?

Ok, it will start in safe mode, but even that takes a while to start. But I'm still clueless as to what to do now....

See if you can get anything from the event log or use nirsoft blue screen view to get what's caused it.

Might be disk related if it's taking ages

I can try nirsoft blue screen view once I've got a hard drive caddy which I'm going to order, as otherwise I won't be able to do a thing within the computer.

It just won't do anything. In safe mode it takes forever to even open a drive, any drive.

Hopefully I can find something out, I've got my hard drive dock today.

No, doesn't look as though it saved the minidump file.

    What else can I do?

I'd try a bootable Linux USB stick first, check the machine is OK then look at replacing the disk (assuming it's the disk)
