Correct. Can you do me a favour nicon and take the img links from your quoted post? It's awkward having the images appearing twice, especially when they're that big
My motherboard arrived from overclock.co.uk yesterday. It arrived at my old work, so I only got it today. My XP2800+ is on backorder. Stock was expected yesterday, but they've put it back to the 14th Anyways... it's a Gigabyte GA-7VNNXP. It uses the nForce2 chipset and has 4 memory slots for loads of Dual-DDR PC3500. It also has an AGP pro slot, the standard Gigabyte dual BIOS, setial ATA, standard RAID, and Gigabyte's new dual power system (DPS). It's an extra card that provides 3 more phase change circuits which run in parallel and also serve as a backup if anything goes wrong. I don't think my heatsinks I made for the MOSFETS will fit. I'll epoxy them on the old board for my next project. I may get some Tweakmonster BGA sinks for this board, if they fit with the DPS card installed. The massive box. Biggest motherboard box I've seen The box opened out The entire package Closeup of the board Might get another Gb of RAM and have 2Gb of XMS3500 4 USB ports, Dual LAN, 2 COM ports (these are VGA ports on the VNNXPV model) The DPS card. The heatsink fins are vertical, I'm hoping this will direct more air onto the MOSFETS next to the CPU socket below the card Under the heatsink, you can see the 6 extra MOSFETS. Might slap some Arctic Silver 5 on this DPS card installed with retention clip. It's not the tightest of fits but since the card sits vertically when mounted in the case, it should be Ok The CPU socket is rotated 90 degrees. Might be a bit awkward with my swiftech block. Soon see
6 phase change circuits instead of 3 mean less strain and they will most likely run a lot cooler, especially with the heatsink on half of them. It also means if there is something wrong with the circuits on the motherboard, there is a backup... something that gigabyte seem to like doing (dual BIOS)
Dude what would you ever need dual LAN for??? Nice case so far....nice hardrive...wish i had some money to get a big bertha like that!!!!!
Dual LAN is great for times when you are say hosting a LAN party and want to be connected to your home network and the party network. Nice project--thats a sweet mobo!
Wow, just read all 12 pages of this project and... WOW great work Ouija, Hyooj is looking awesome... Can't wait to see more
I require dual LAN for internet connection sharing until I get a router. It's still useful to have though. I don't need to have my second PCI network card installed any more. Arkangyl: Not much more to go... just motherboard and CPU installation, possibly a northbridge block. Other than that, this mini upgrading spree is to supply my next project with "castoffs". All I need is my new graphics card and some memory for the next project. That, and the case
If you run your machine as a router, an internet gateway, or a firewall. EXAMPLE Modem > PC > a hub > other machines on network Also fi you want to be part of two networks, like a webserver that uses 1 NIC to connect to the internet and the other to connect to the local network.
Very nice setup. I like the dual lan. Makes things alot easier. Plus you can bridge them and run at 200 mpbs. The case is lovely.
