can’t help thinking the 3080 ti will be £500 more expensive than 3080, and only add 10Mhz more. If I were Nvidia I would be feeding those crypto bots and earning the company massive amounts of money. Gamers are cool right, but we will forever be hanging on for the next GFX card - we’re guaranteed to always be there. But crypto … gotta squeeze every last Penny from the miners in case the whole things crashes.

 

Again we will hear apologies from GPU makers as to why there is no stock in the shops, at the same time Scalpers will be selling large stocks on Ebay, like EVGA x72 off, in one sale.
Crypto or no Crypto, are we going to see GPU`s on sale in the shops ? When will we see lower models like the RTX 3050 appear in the shops, and available to buy ???

 

Scalping used to be a thing a few people did and it didn't make much difference. Now there are websites with communitys dedicated to clearing out stock with bots. I know the pandemic made things tough financially, but we went from a few scalpers to hundreds of the ****ers.

I get one person buying three of something and keeping one and selling two for a small profit, but we have people buying scores of a thing, or more, and then selling it for a huge mark-up. Funny how greed turns someone that needed money into a total scum bag. Its gone beyond need. Now its "how much can I make"?

 

I'm scalping the next lot god damn it!

 

Well, I was hoping for a 20GB 3080, but there we are.

I'll care when I can actually buy three (one for gaming rig, two for work) at MSRP. Despite the massively inflated price of the 3090 vs. the 3080, I regret not buying one just before Christmas, when there were a few a) available and b) close to MSRP here.

 

This is the way it is now. It isn't just about crypto any more, scalpers don't care if it's a GPU, Gucci handbag or Adidas trainers - they identify demand and swarm. The pandemic and cryptomining created the shortage and increased demand and that's all she wrote.

Now that we're on their radar, the scalpers can create demand just by hoovering up stock.

 

And with almost perfect timing, TSMC announce they've had a COVID outbreak!

30 series is Samsung, isn't it?

I mean, it'll still cause chaos, but shouldn't impact the 30 series Ti

 

Those who buy from the scalpers are equally to blame, without them the scalpers would fail.
