A family friend has asked me to spec a gaming pc for their son's 11th birthday with a monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers for a budget of up to £1000. Back in the day I'd have built it, but I've been out of the loop for a while now and really can't be arsed to support it either, so I'm looking for recommendations.

The only guidance I have is:

    Minimum 1TB
    Plenty of bling/RGB
    For playing COD etc.

That's it! Any recommendations from those with their ears closer to the ground on current specs/prices? I'd probably aim for a £750 base unit then spend the remainder on the peripherals, but I may be way out!

You're gonna have a rough time going pre-built at that budget with monitor and peripherals. Regardless, I went and pieced this together on pc specialist. It's got a lot of compromises and you'll need to get a windows key and ot came to 1033 quid.

    Case
PCS SPECTRUM G ARGB MID TOWER CASE (PWM)
    Processor (CPU)
    Intel® Core™ i3 Quad Core Processor i3-12100F (3.30GHz) 12MB Cache

I wouldn't be looking at an 8GB GPU or 1080p for a new build.

£1000 will comfortably get you a 1440p monitor, 6700XT and a LGA1700 i5 system, but I can't see anything pre-built that is in budget and competitive (assuming you want to leave around £250 for keyboard, mouse and display) - they all tend to have junk level mobos and/or low end GPUs.

That's my problem, I can't support anything they buy due to time constraints etc.

Bearing in mind he's only turning 11 I wouldn't expect him to need a cutting edge gaming monster, but it's increasingly hard to find a bundle deal in this day and age...

They haven't quite decided yet, but I'll try to remember to update when they do!
