BT appears on there fairly frequently when they're talking about older stuff, I've seen them 2 or 3 times for sure! Really a shame its only getting coverage now... :(

If bit-tech started again today, what would be it's USP?

No.1 for me would be UK pricing.

Doesn’t exactly appeal to a broad audience, but hear me out.

The thing that’s really annoying about a lot of component reviews, particularly when it comes to “value for money”, is pricing in USD. Even HardwareUnboxed, an Aussie YouTube channel, bases ”value judgements” on USD and not AUD. When people go on about pricing offers, discounts, rebates, etc, it’s always US-centric. It’s even worse when people talk about the second-hand market; I don’t give a flying one how cheaply you can get really good hardware, because we just don’t have that kind of market in any other country besides the US.

I think the direction the YouTube content was going was fantastic, but it’s hard to stand out in that very crowded market these days.

I’d love to see the site “re-born” in some way, but it’s going to be hard to compete these days; any potential future “bit-tech entrepreneur” would likely either need very deep pockets, or run it as a passion project.

The swallowing of custom pc into pcgamesn is a stark demonstration of current online written media; filled with so many ads that you can barely read it. Really turned me off reading anything.

YouTube or other vids is difficult, the edits have to be as smooth and polished as any mainstream media, my main problem was trying to get the production looking half competent with little to know knowledge of how. There were so many things I wanted to do or add into the vids but just didn't have the knowledge, skills or googlefu to do them. Colour grading I found especially difficult, especially when added to my shoddy camera skills (or lack there of).

Then it's getting more and more difficult to make money from that alone, so you need 2 or 3 channels, with incentives for people to sub to all of them. Then patron etc but with additional exclusive content. Biggest cash cow really is merch, something I'd have like to have pushed a bit more with some samples so people could actually see it, but couldn't persuade the editor at the time to send anything.
