Exactly what I said, just before posting it here to spread the horror.

Saw this and thought of you lot.

That's what you get when you build a 7,500-part model using 6,500 parts you already had... in a variety of colours.

yeah, not sold on this. Lunar Lander? check. Saturn V? check. Ares rocket on stand? check. discovery shuttle? check. this? not sures its for me. probably as its a technic set rather than a "system" set.

Having built a number of bigger technic sets as an adult (never had many as a kid, and the only ones i did have were small), i'm just not sure technic is for me. I can appreciate the complexity of the mechanisms, and the satisfaction of them working is great, but the frustration when it requires about 4 pairs of hands to hold the mechanisism in the right orientation as you thread an axle in whilst making sure the gear you've had to drop into a hole doesnt fall out, its just not for me.

The Perserverence rover technic set was probably the nail in the coffin, It was just not fun to build :(

Yeah, the rover's deckchairs don't look easy to build at all!

Decided to build this over the long weekend. Start:

    End:

Not a build for those that hate repetition! Surprised that there's actually over 3,000 pieces - didn't feel like that many and I only checked at the end. I also had to adjust the stand slightly so that I could put it on the small shelf it now resides on without falling off.
