They are all much of a muchness,
Go for the one that has the best gui/profiles to suite your needs.

Also remeber if your running as administrator/user with debug privs, any virus can get round the firewall with minimal effort.

I would prefer ZoneAlarm out of the two - but I actually DONT run a software firewall. Its too damn intrusive - do you want this to acces the internet poping up all the damn time iritates me.......I just clean, clean and clean my system all the time to hopefully prevent spyware and the such. I also have 2 hardware firewalls - a linux box and a microsoft router.

I always use Zonealarm Pro, its probably the best Win OS Firewall. Also dont forget to run a good virus checker too such as norton, and a full system scan every 24 Hours.

Use another internet browser that isnt IE, Mozilla Firefox is a good choice, and you are fully protected. Just run something like ad-aware every week to keep the cookies and spyware out.

before i got a hardware router/firewall, i was always partial to ConSeal firewall ... worked quite well back in my heavy IRC days ... just a shame that McAfee bought em out and ruined it.

I've been using Sygate Personal Firewall and find it quite effective. ZoneAlarm Pro must be good, but among freeware, ZoneAlarm gets deeply into the registry and that could create problems. I'm not aware whether that's really necessary. :eyebrow:

a good quality router with onboard firewall is better imo.
as for norton it drains resources.
    zone alarm rocks software-wise.

AFAIK, BlackIce is one of the easiest to hack/disable. This is 3rd hand info so I cant defend it, but it's what I've heard a couple of times...

Panda Personal Firewall! It rocks if you know how to configer it, if not, u'll end up blocking everything.

and yes, avoid norton unless u have :jawdrop: alot of money.
