Well i've been to do this long time ago , but always witout time to do it, but , i managed to get this as a school project and so here it is the final result with lot's of pictures of all the Work progress and the Bay in action THe Start !! The used LCD ->240 x 128 with T6963C Controler The front part of the Bya being adjusted http://pwp.netcabo.pt/samtech/mods/lcd_bay/imag0101.jpg The acrilic base for the LCD Bay View of the LCD bay and it's metalic base The first LCD tests and from the base and rest of the ilumination The ilumination test from the Acrilic base The LCD Test The board wiith the ilumination conectors, the inverter conector and the LCD conector: More ilumination test's The sides of the bay , the acrilic molding ans the painting. The acrilic base after all ajustment's ,holes and some edge polishing: The sides before adjustment The sides after adjustment and polishing A very goo hair dryer from Black&Decker with 2000W to mold the acrilic (Aka heat gun) The acrilic for the back cover after molding, and preparing to finish up the sides The sides and back cover after finished and polished: THe painting of the metalic base, the sides (Tha were painted on the inside , so we can get a miror finish ) and the front of the bay: To place the acrilic on the bay there were 2 ideas , but othe firs on gave some bad result's due to a chemical reaction between the acrilic , the paint and a paste used to fill in the space, so i opted by polishing the front acrilic as the other part's and the result was much better then i expected And what all we where wainting for , the final result !! Left , right and front view of the bay back view The Bay in action It's content's after all conected: My WOrk Bench Well that's all , hope you to enjoy it as much as i do ;-) Samtech Portugal RULA !!!! Very clean and very nicely done! Where did you get the front to start with? What was it before? Also, how did you get the paint like that? It looked rough in one shot when you were still working on it sanding etc. and then it was the finished product. It looks great and in the pictures almost looks textured.
my god that's beautiful! One question: What are the small microphone shaped cylinders mounted in the back for? here's a one of your pictures with them: Great work though!
that is a great way to enclose an LCD, good job! edit the microphone looking things are LEDs, the blue ones that light up the bottom
That looks amazing, great job on that. Where did you get that lcd? I want one for my next proj. JEEVES ps. those are leds, he shows them in a pic further up
Thanks you all Well , now answering to all of you that have some doubt's: The LCD , and part of the front, as i said it was taken apart from a Copy-machine along with some more things (Aka wires , board's etc) , then it was time cut off some part's of the machine , and to put paste and glue to get the thing together in the front panel as in the picture. The cilinder led's were for in Car lighting , so as they looked realy cool in the box i adapted them to it, they were less then 5 € ans give a very good light ! The Reset button , well , honestly it's there , but maybe for no much time , i'm thinking on to put one off those anti-vandal butons (with ilumination or not still to see) The paint i used was from AKI (name of the Store in Portugal) it's from MOTIP type Autolack Acril , it's a sorth of a metalized grey form there it apers to be a bit textured, it's the can from the picture above As for the painting method , i give first one light coat of paint at about 20 cm never pushing too much the spray button, then wait about 5 min , and then again giving another coat, and so on till i get the desired efect , it takes about 3 ou 4 coats to be great on a smooth surface. Any more doubt's just say Samtech
