After lurking the Bit-Tech forums for a couple of months, seeing one amazing mod project after the other, I decided to start my own little project. The name Lian sLi originates from the fact that I will be putting a SLI-configuration in a Lian Li-case. Very rare nowadays huh? I've had this Lian Li PC-60 stowed away in my closet for a while now, and it's about time I do something with it. This is the current hardware in my possession: AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Winchester (will probably be exchanged before project end) DFI LANPARTY NF4 SLI-D (will probably be exchanged before project end) 2 x 512MB Twinmos TwisterPRO PC3200 TCCD 2 x Point of View GeForce 6800 ULTRA OCZ Powerstream 520W (will probably be exchanged before project end) My plan is to watercool some of these components, specifically the graphiccards since they are running way hot at the time being. The watercooling gear will pretty much exclusively consist of Aqua-Computer products, which I am waiting for at the moment. (very impatiently if I may add ) Since the stuff probably won't arrive until next week, I decided to do some premodding while waiting. As you may have noticed, the case lacks the power and reset buttons. I have no idea what happened to them, but I do remember that they didn't look very good. The Bulgin vandalswitches is used in almost all Lian Li mods, so I obviously wanted a couple for my own project (only the red and green ones will be used) Since the original reset button was very small I had to enlarge the hole: As the switches now fit, I stole some frontpanel wiring from an old case I had and sleeved them up: Here's the final result when testing them out: Lian Li should make these switches standard or what do you think? That's all for now. I'll update again when the WC gear arrives. Over and Out.
Nice clean look so far. I think thats the best way to go with Lian Li's. They have such clean lines to start out with, its a shame to throw too much crap on them.
Quick question. Why waste a vandal switch on a reset button? Other than a consistent look you're wasting that lighted ring on the button. The stock power button could be used there instead (If they're the same as on the V1000's). Just a thought.
Not so. On the Lian-Li PC60 the stock power button is a rather unattractive plastic thing. The lighted ring on the reset button could always be a HDD activity indicator.
Just saw that on another thread. They are rather ugly. And the idea for the HDD indicator would work perfectly.
Yepp! I use VF700-coolers until the watercooling arrives: As Nexxo pointed out I will be using the second vandalswitch as a Resetswitch/HDD-LED (I should have shown this on the pic in the first post, but unfortunately I didn't have a harddrive hooked up).
Oh happy day, the Aqua Computer stuff arrived today! Aqua Computer goodness: Two AquagraFX 6800 Rev 2, an Aquatube-tank, a Twinplex chipset-block and a Cuplex EVO cpu-block. The Airplex EVO 360 and of course a grill to go with it. Let the modding begin!
You can get the Twinplex to fit on the DFI? I had no idea... I thought it would hit one of the graphics cards. That's what I keep telling people anyways. AC+SLi= Keep at it, I wanna see this be awesome! I'll be interested to see where you squeeze that 360 and Aquatube, seeing as the two in line just barely fit at the top of a v2000 (or PC-70 I suppose) from what I've seen
Man that hardware is so damn nice! I hope you will give us some temp results when your project is complete. Now come on and throw a FX-55 on there! You know you want to.
You are absolutely correct about the Twinplex not fitting the DFI-card. I'm thinking about exchanging it for the Asus-model, just so I can get rid of that pesky fan.
