I think there are blocks that can fit the DFI, just not the Twinplex. However, it can fit the Asus board. You do need to either a) mod the mounting screen a tad or b) use the ATI version instead of the nForce version to get it to fit though.

It's projects like yours, Firehed and Nexxo that inspired me to start this mod. So cudos to y'all :)

At the moment the Twinplex is about 1/4" too high to fit under the graphiccards. I was thinking that I could perhaps exchange the acrylic top to a thinner one and reallocate the plug'n'cool fittings.

You don't happen to know which chipset block specifically that is low enough to fit on the DFI?

This has been a real bugbear over at http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/index.php
I think there was one company in Germany doing them and another guy custom making them, if you asked on the modding or extreme cooling sections here at bit and provided details of how much space you've got to fit the block I'm sure someone with a mini-mill could help you out :thumb:

PS Isn't there going to be problems with aluminium vs copper in your AC system (afaik the VGA blocks are aluminium and the CPU block is copper)? I love AC but this put me off, I was worried about blocks getting furred :wallbash:

By the way, how close are the VF700s in SLI? The pics make it look like the top one is touching the back of the bottom card :eeek:

Just use AC Fluid, it's designed to help prevent corrosion. You'll note the plugs in an Aquatube are also unanodized aluminum... which is actually good since any corrosion you get happens on the plugs (assuming no Al GPU coolers) and not in copper waterblocks.

Thanks for the tip, i'll be sure to check it out! :thumb:

The VF700-coolers are about one millimetre from eachother, so it's really tight :D

The project is unfortunately progressing very slowly at the moment. I'm waiting to get some stuff lasercut that is crucial for the project, but my laserguy is not exactly what one could call fast. :blah:

At least I have a small update to the hardware that will be used. Since the Venice-core processors have started to emerge here in Sweden I was able to get my hands on a 3800+ one.

Let's hope it overclocks more than my Winchester :)

I think I have the worst 3200+ Winchester ever made.

Mine goes to 2200MHz, after that it's not prime stable.

Ouch. That's a real shame. But then again, it's only rated to 2.0 so it's still free speed. That Venice should do well from what I've read.

The laserguy finally finished the top so all I had to do was to drill the holes for the grill and rivet it back to the case.

You may notice that the PSU won't fit when the radiator has been mounted. Hopefully I can show you the sollution to this problem in the next update ;)

Ooh, really nicely mounted. Dead straight and centered. Yeah, I wanna know what you have up your sleeves for the PSU.

well you can still put the psu in front of the motherboard or in the front of the case

Its really nice to put an airplex360 in that case (well actually in every case)

2200 is typical of early production winchesters. I may be getting a venice soon, pro bono.

The DFI LanParty Freezer is what you are looking for...

Have you seen the block in this review? The block is made by a German company by the name of Mips-Computer. It appears to be a good solution.

    Looks really nice!

The thing is that i'm not sure if i'll be using a DFI-card for this project.

I returned the board I had since it actually killed a couple of memory sticks (at default voltage!).

Update is coming soon. Just gotta get me some cutting discs for my :dremel:
