What's the best way to have "portable speakers" that are battery powered and produce a decent amount of sound? Non-amplified speakers don't have the volume, but the ones with a power cord have, well, a power cord. Basically, I'm looking for a good way to play music at lunch from my pod with my friends. thanks btw, i have two rechargable 12 volt electric Razor scooter batteries... ?
Replace the power supply of some amplified speakers with some batteries. BTW, while you're at it, extend the runtime of your audio device by making a power supply. http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=88689 Ground loops might be a problem, but since you have two battery packs, use one for the speakers and the other for your audio device.
OK- here's what I did- I took a set of cheapo labtec speakers that run on 12v current. I took the AC adapter and cut off the end with the plug. then i connected the bare ends of the wire to my battery. Then i plugged it in. The green light came on in the speakers, but no sound came out- can this mean that the battery isn't supplying enough amps? (I'm an electronics noob)
They're scooter batteries, so they should be powerful enough. What are the ratings of the original power supply?
well being the retard i am, i threw the power adapter away. actually i remember the voltage being a little lower than 12 volts, like maybe 9 or 10. is that a problem?
ok hers the trick your so close ;-) you know how mag lights compress the batterys. one on top of each other.. do the same duct tape them togther.. presto two batteries should juice the power you need. place neg and pos in right areas.
I have this: http://www.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=4&subcategory=29&product=10164 It sounds OK, great for the size but not really loud. Loud enough for a few people in a smallish room.
