Recently my stepfather setup the VPN feature on our Linksys router to use for work related jobs. The problem I have is that when the tunnel is disconnected (still enabled, but disconnected) it pings our entire home network trying to renew the connection. For me this means that I have trouble staying connected to certain chat-related programs (mIRC, AIM, xfire) and when playing multiplayer games I get small "lag spikes" everytime time the VPN pings my PC. It happens about every 5-10 seconds.

What I was interested to find out is if there is a way to hide or block the VPN from pinging my computer when it's disconnected.

    We use the following router:

    Linksys VPN Router w/ 4-Port 10/100 Switch
    Model #: BEFVP41

Any help is greatly appreciated. :wallbash:

You could disable ICMP echo requests on the firewall on your PC (stops pings being replied to). Or can you enable the VPN connection only during certain timeframes on your router (some can).
