1st June 2007 - With Windows® Vista becoming the technological talking point for 2007, most of us are aware that the minimum requirements of this new OS generation from Microsoft® are high. But what is not so commonly known is that these requirements may be met with the help of the ReadyBoost™ function.

For a PC to run Windows® Vista, it will require at least 1GB of system memory (Windows® Vista Home Premium / Business / Ultimate edition). Although this minimum requirement is high, thanks to ReadyBoost™, Windows® Vista will increase the memory buffer through the use of a single flash drive.

The theory behind ReadyBoost™ warrants that the flash memory of the USB drive will enable the end-user to boost their machine faster and more efficiently than by consulting the hard drive in the traditional way. In fact, PNY challenges you to switch on your computer, run an application, close this application and then re-launch it with ReadyBoost™ you will discover that the first time it took 25 seconds to open, the second launch will take 2 or 3 seconds!

ReadyBoost™ is an excellent temporary alternative to adding more Ram to a computer, as it will facilitate the running of particularly complex applications such as Windows Media Player 10 and memory intensive image applications.

As expected from Europe’s leading manufacturer for USB and upgrade solutions, PNY is pioneering Windows® ReadyBoost™ with the brand’s popular Attaché™ Pro. This means that the Attaché™ Pro officially meets Windows® ReadyBoost™ minimum requirements: writing speed > 3MB/s, reading speed< 5MB/s and a minimum 1GB memory.

Not only is the Attaché™ Pro enhanced by Windows® ReadyBoost™, but is a cutting edge flash drive available in capacities between 1GB and 4GB that reaches amazing speeds (writing speed up to 25MB/s and 29MB/s for reading speed) and is one of the most secure flash drives in the market.

Indeed, thanks to the CarryItEasy™ software, few things are simpler than synchronizing and protecting data with 128 bit AES encryption! So your Attaché™ Pro is not only enhanced by Windows® ReadyBoost™, but becomes a vault that only you can access!

The 1GB Attache Pro is now available for £14.99 online at www.Play.com and www.Misco.co.uk and will be in-store at PC World from June.

How long would the life expectancy be o an USB flash drive used as RAM? The enormous I/O that occurs in the RAM can't be good for the (write limited) flash memory...

It's not really used as RAM. Frequently accessed files are stored in a kind of pagefile, which is stored on the flash drive. I think. I'm not 100% sure on it, but it shaves 2-3 seconds off opening Photoshop, so in my eyes it's worth the £8 I spent on a flash drive.
