Admitting that it has been a commercial success doesn't equate with changing his mind about whether it was a good movie or not.

I agree, that statement does not mean he changed his mind.

and may people are reporting this as PART of the original interview as it was, not changing his mind at all.
The death of the family thing should've been at the start or in flashback at least. Surely 3DRealms saw the script before??

This might be wishful thinking from a fan of the games but he says:

"This kind of opening brings us a lot closer to the reality of a sequel,"

Now, since he's not involved in the movies so far as I'm aware, so I'm choosing to take it as improving the possibility of another Max Payne game, which I would truely enjoy - I'm about 2/3 of the way replaying through Max Payne 2 atm (thank you steam!) and hugely enjoying myself :)

agree++. I feel the news article draws the wrong conclusion based on that statement.

Is it just me or is there some confusion in this report as to whether it's the film thats being talked about or the game?

    For example:

Just a few days ago Scott Miller of 3D Realms was slating the Max Payne movie, but it appears he has now changed his tune after the game managed to top the box office over the weekend and bring in more than $18 million USD.

    and:

Now though, Miller has changed his mind about the game and rather than complaining about the characters and how some have been marginalised, he claims the film is very impressive and deserving of a sequel.

    I think there's been a mix up. :duh: :D

Aye, movie is a movie of a game, not a game.
