News Gears of War PC certificate expires

A bug with the digital certificates for Epic's Gears of War PC has made the game unplayable.

 

Epic Failure! This is why modern anti-pirating methods need revising.

 

Surely someone should have seen this coming and sorted it out?

 

Like MS saw the Zune problem coming? Come on, man, that would require forethought! That's just not Microsoft's style.

So far have successfully avoided GFWL.
Pity about Operation Anchorage, though.

 

Apparently someone at either MS or Epic thought nobody would ever touch the game again after 1 year so the certificate got signed for exactly that time period. Signed certificates and MS are always fun. I still remember as if it was yesterday:

"Dear MS,

we found out that under Office 2k7 meta content is not encrypted when you digitally sign a document and can be manipulated by any third party.
Also the little red ribbon you use to indicate a digital signature doesn't change or show it in any way when the certificate is made invalid/expires.
Please tell us what you think about that."

Answer:

"Works as intended."

your anti virus client relies on your system clock as do other system critical apps, don't change back your system clock!!!!

This is Epic we're talking about, the people who made a complete mess of GoW2 multiplayer and still haven't fixed all the lag issues.

Steam is also a culprit sometimes, telling me I can't play any of my games because the servers are too busy, sometimes blocking me out for hours. This includes singleplayer games like HL2.
