Gaming Outrun Online Arcade

Sega's classic arcade racer comes to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Based on Outrun 2 SP, it combines new HD graphics and online multiplayer with the classic corner drifting driving style. We see if it's worth jumping into a Ferrari once more or if the game's 20 year old template is getting tired.

 

bought this last week really liking it, just fun. might be a tad short but who cares

 

Tried the demo, run out of time halfway through the 2nd area - just like in the arcade

 

its fun for a nice quick blast but if youve played coast to coast then theres nothing new here. still the achievement thing being retro is quite nice, chasing gumball king is a bitch 14:34 is my best so far

 

Shouldn't that read "the game is only available available for the PS3 in the US"?

My main disappointment with this game is the lack of split screen play. But overlooking that, the rest of it is great. As mentioned, there's nothing new compared to C2C (in fact, IIRC C2C had more unlockables with original arcade music and so-on - at least on the PC).

Nope.... US readers will be disappointed *because* the game is only available for the PS3 in Europe, so therefore they won't be able to buy it.

Agree that lack of split-screen is disappointing. In terms of unlockables, I think C2C and OOA are broadly similar, the difference being in OOA all the cars etc are unlocked from the start.

 

CTC was basically outrun 2 with Outrun 2 SP added on, OOA is basically missing a several cars (i think) and all of the outrun 2 course and the classic 1986 music

 

It's missing the original Outrun 2 course, but all the cars from Outrun 2 SP are in OOA.

 

Ah right, I mis-read that

 

not all of them, its missing the 550 Barchetta, F355 Spider, Superamerica, 328 GTS, and the Ferrari F430 as well as OUTRUN class which featuered diff paint and body work for each car

 

Ah, yes, you're right, those aren't in OOA - it's a bit tricky to find reliable lists of what was in C2C, and I didn't have a copy to hand when writing the review! My apologies

 

no probs, i was sad enough to unlock everything as well as get top heart attack scores on goals B and C for several months
