News Left 4 Dead 2 demo coming next month

Valve has confirmed a Left 4 Dead 2 demo for next month.

 

I may have to boycott the demo - I played the first demo religiously and almost sucked all the fun out of the actual game.

 

I really hope you used "boycott" humorously...

hang on the DEMO is "only avaliable" if you have already ordered the game, how the hell am i supposed to know if its worth getting. thats what DEMO are supposed to be for.

If it's anything like L4D1, it'll be available to Pre-Orders a week earlier than everyone else, as a way of saying thank you for pre-ordering, that's all. It'll still be available to none-pre-orders, obviously, just a week later.

Personally I think I'll pre-order the game just to get at the demo. I loved L4D 1 and am seriously stoked about this one. I also honestly don't mind paying for it if it means I get a better gaming experience out of it. -£30+awesome new game > £0+less awesome add-on stuff any day.

Partly, I was digging at both the boycott malarkey and myself for playing the demo too much and almost ruining the actual game.

Why? It's not wrong to stand up for what you believe in. I have a lot of respect for people that can do that, even if I don't agree with whatever they're standing for, people don't stand up for themselves enough. It's just too easy to do nothing.

I'm not buying a game to play the demo, that makes no sense.

 

Can't wait for this, i still havent given l4d the attention it deserves, need to get playing more

 

If it is like L4D1 then the demo will be available for people who pre-ordered for a couple of weeks then it will be available for everyone else.

 

This is good news means for a week or so i will be sat on youtube watching all those who pre-ordered play! - I will be getting this demo, don't know what happened with left 4 dead 1 as its release somehow passed me by, must have been when i was living under that rock!

 

Tbh the L4D demo was quite disappointing. 1.5 levels only in coop mode... considering I still haven't completed all the campaigns in that mode almost a year later shows what I thought of that. Vs is much more varied and intense.

It's going to take a lot for me to consider getting L4D2, a couple of levels from a couple of campaigns with vs available would do nicely. What does it matter if they're putting out a lot of content for free? They can take it down again after release like they did with the first demo. If I were them I would be aiming to get people addicted, and if it's as good as they say, then going back to L4D1 afterwards will feel like crap and they'll want to move onto the 2nd.

 

Valve is awesome.
You have to admire a company that has basically made mods to their one engine and sold them as different games. I for one will be happy to see the end of dx9 games, dx9 is like a super-model .... who is 45

 

Sorry to disappoint Star, but L4D 2 is DX9 - I remember reading PC Gamer a few years ago (before L4D & TF2's release) that they'd rather work on multi-threading the engine before moving over to a newer GFX API - this case, it was DX10.

 

No DX10 No buy...its as simple as that

Hope it's sufficiently different from L4D - was a really good game but I think I've overplayed it.
