"it will likely cost us an insane amount of losses"
Are they trying to guilt tripping people out of cancelling their orders?

Still nice gesture, and good PR indeed.
To bad I'm to late. My Razer is in need of replacement.

    Good PR though.

Will likely win them a few fans. Not me :)

Possibly not as stupid as it seems: the most expensive product I could find on the site is £230. (At first, I thought it included Razer's laptop range - but they don't appear to be available on the UK Razerzone store.) If we assume "thousands of orders" equates to around 5,000, and Razer is honouring a discount of a single product, that means it's giving away £1.15 million in stock for £115,000 in revenue. If we assume that it makes a 50% profit margin on these things - pulled out of my proverbial, and likely to be vastly higher than in reality - that means it's making a loss of around about £500,000.

On the other hand, it's going to get significant press out of this - you just watch and see how many tech sites pop up a pro-Razer headline in the next day or two. £500,000 for a global-reach advertising campaign that paints the company in an entirely generous, pro-customer light and is not affected by ad-block technology? Bargain.

    You make a persuasive argument.
I'm either going crazy or the article has been edited (or both) as I'm sure I read that it included laptop orders.

Would be nice to know a little more about the scale of the financial hit we are talking about here.

I can't comment on your mental state, but the original draft did indeed include an aside which mentioned laptops - that was a mistake on my part. I was on the US Razerzone, not the UK Razerzone: there are no laptops up for purchase on the UK Razerzone.

They can always make some money back by selling all those e-mail addresses.

This is a very good gesture by Razer and well done to them for it.

Have to also say well done to those who managed to grab something during this period.

Although I don't use Razer myself for my own reasons, I do know allot of people who use and swear by them and this just shows how good they are.

Hope it doesn't hurt them too badly as they said legally they could have cancelled the orders, many companys do if they screw up.

    It's a nice gesture towards their fans....gamers.:thumb:

Depends if it was gamers or ebayers that got there first though?

sure, i get the being nice to the folks who ordered one or two items, but still honouring one to the guys who ordered multiples thus taking the pi$$, is beyond generous.

Read the article, they are only honoring single purchases of each product.

I doubt it will cost them that much, I think Gareth's estimate of 50% 'profit margin' is probably quite conservative. For a company like Razer, a large amount of their expenditure will be spent on Advertising and then Product Development after that.

    Razer mice - fantastic.

    Razer everything else - pants.

But yes, good PR and a good attitude towards the customer.

I remember ordering a graphics card on Amazon at a low price - and that order was not honoured, so kudos to Razer.

It is nice they are not afraid of losing some pounds in order to keep their customers and get new ones.

Thus, has said their UK shop is too limited.
