2GB of extra memory you'll never use, and by the time games require it, this card won't have the horsepower to give playable frame rates anyway...ergo, utterly pointless exercise in trying to keep old tech selling whilst waiting for the new Maxwell cards.

The GTX 700 series seems to have been around forever.

Extra 3GB, If you're gaming at 1080p then I agree it's pointless, but then again so was buying a 780. You only need 40-60fps and much cheaper cards will deliver a maxed out experience at those frame rates (at 1080p).

If you're gaming at 1440p or 1600p then 3GB just isn't enough (for newer titles).

Funny why they are not using 780Ti's.. Makes me think EVGA secured a boat load of QC failed Titans and just downclocked them.

I like the idea of having mid/high end graphics cards with more gddr.....ideal if you don't mid going multi gpu....a couple of those in sli would give you much more gpu performance than any 780ti and not be much more expensive, a couple of those with the extra ram would see you good for several years to come.

I put 2GB because the most you will need at any resolution with any current game is 4GB...BF4,Titanfall and a heavily modded Skyrim are the only games out there that break the 3GB framebuffer.

YOU won't ever use all the memory...
not everyone uses them for games.

Isn't Watch Dogs an example of the possible near future?

Shame they've taken so long to get these, I wish they'd been an option from the launch of the 780 series. My next GPU will have to wait for the 8xx release, and I hope they have more than 3GB of VRAM!
