I've completely given up trying to make sense of nVidia's naming scheme for the Titans now. Honestly, if it wasn't for CUDA, I'd go back to Radeon and be totally happy. If only some of the software I use had an OpenCL version... :sigh: as it is, I'm stuck with either a) using nVidia GPUs, or b) things taking weeks instead of days to process.

What I want to know is why Nvidia released this with little fanfare?

EDIT: Reminds me of the Radeon Pro Duo launch.

Rushed it to throw shade on the Project Scorpio announcement. Not that Nvidia's still bitter about losing the contract, of course(!)

Probably because it's not a big deal to many at that price point. Nvidia has a 1 generation effective net lead now. This is the sort of do as you please approach that happens at that point.

Diversion tactic to all the Ryzen news that is basically saying Nvidias drivers are crap and not working well in threaded scenarios DX12 etc.

Does Scorpio utilise a full fat Polaris GPU then? I heard even the 5XX (i.e. 4xx with extra cores) series will not be using a full implementation. Kinda confusing.

All Microsoft has given is the Tflops figure, that's the advantage of custom soc you can say nothing and nobody really knows outside of AMD or Microsoft.

They have given some base stats for the cpu and the memory capacity.

Console crowd won't care for such things though xx

I reckon it will be called Titan Ultra, and I also reckon it will cost $1500.

Recently AdoredTV did some research and it seems that the majority considered $1500 their limit. Can't see Nvidia complaining for the free market research and yeah, I reckon before long they will start using the ultra moniker again too.
