Everyone's going to be turning off the RBG lighting, it's just going to be an annoyance, I turn off the tiny power light on my monitor because I find it distracting. I guess it's just the case of people in the marketing department desperately trying to justify their existance.

Instead of every manufacturer adding gimmicks to their monitors can we have some actual new stuff? Where are my OLED displays? LCD is absolute **** and I don't want to be stuck with it another 10 years.

"Actual new stuff" coming this year in monitors:
    Higher res ultrawides
G-Sync + HDR in the same screen
    4K going beyond 60hz
The Nvidia BFGD which combine the size of a TV with the performance of a monitor

So despite Oled monitors being a long way off 2018 is actually going to be a year of wallet bursting monitor upgrades.

It sure is... and my wallet is waiting to be burst on a new but older panel. I want 144Hz or above, at 1440P at either ultra wide or just regular sizing.

All great but built on the foundation of LCD - it's just not good.
I'm waiting for a monitor of reasonable size (27" or so), 4k, freesync and OLED, preferably with high refresh rate. Difficult and expensive but not impossible.
