    I think the very first words of any future article regarding new processors from now on should state whether or not the spectre flaws have finally been addressed.

    Aye, it's going to be quicker and easier to assume that these vulnerabilities have not been sorted, since it's my understanding that they are baked into the current architecture.

    Turns out, according to an unnamed Intel spokesperson talking to Tom's Hardware, Whiskey Lake does have some in-silicon protections against Meltdown Variant 3 and Foreshadow, but does not have any in-silicon protection against Spectre Variants 1-4 inclusive nor Meltdown Variant 3a. Oddly, Amber Lake (the Y-series parts) does not have the same protections and is reliant on microcode/software patches for all Spectre/Meltdown/Foreshadow and related vulnerabilities.
