News Intel formally announces 10th generation Comet Lake CPUs

How many boost types? I see Intel have stuck to their simple naming structure when it comes to them too.

 

And the point of these chips is......?

 

So on a surface level at least (Prices, Cores, TDP, clock speds) these are more in line with what AMD are selling and hyper threading is on everything.

That will be nice for the system sellers, but it will all come down to the benchmarks versus Ryzen 4000 for everyone else.

 

To rush them out very quickly before AMD release their next gen and still be relevant.

The 10 core 20 thread model should compete well with, or beat, the 3900x. At a huge power and heat penalty, mind.

AMD have been dropping the prices on their CPUs for months. It is now nowhere near the RRP and I don't think Intel realise this. That or they're still having Intel LOLs. Their biggest issue (Intel) is that their boards need fat VRM to cope with their 10900x, and that means cost. None of the 490 boards look anything even near to cheap. Whereas the 3900x will run on a modest ITX board.

 

When will they be available for sale?
