Not really, AMD FX chips are the best bang for buck in gaming nowadays. In windows 8 they regularly outperform Intel's finest Haswell chips.

Depends if he's willing to go with an AMD. Some people are still pretty biased when it comes to Intel vs. AMD.

For the money though, consider an FX 6300, it is almost the same price as the 4130...

Sounds pretty good. The 920 is still a capable CPU; i'd save for the new series to come out.

But 16 GB you bought? Seems like a waste of money to me; 8GB is normally plenty for any gaming...

Might be worth a go; i'd much prefer to spend little money on converting what I have rather than fork out what would probably be three, almost 4 times the cost to convert it on an orbweaver.
