Tend to agree, apart from the jumping to a system without a point. I think advanced drives will be the ones that let you enter and plot unknown points, with the associated risk.

The 300 series? They can have jumps fitted. I don't think the jump drives are going to be actual engines, but more along the lines of a box that is fitted to the existing engine enabling it to jump.
