However I despise the over the top DRM more. Maybe that's because I actually buy all my games. Usually through Steam or if possible direct downloads from the company...

Well it's still in Beta, but it's about as far away from pay to win as you can get and still be free to play. It currently rewards skill over $ for sure. Long way to go yet, but it's immense so far...
