I probably wouldn't upgrade anything 'in the box' but a peripheral or two, maybe a monitor, speakers, headphones, mouse, keyboard etc.

Often you can then work out if it's the cpu that's failing, the NB, the memory etc.

I know it's not the same range, but I've played various games on the 5800k and it's been great, and whilst the AM1 chips don't have quite as much oomph I reckon they'll be able to put on a good show...
