It's not, what is actually happening is that self radio takes some cpu cycles. Turning off Auto scan helps a bit, but the self radio is a bit of a CPU hog.

On the other hand you do get an Extra 1GB of VRAM. But in all honesty outside of heat savings SLI 780s are perfectly adequate.
