While I cant' complain about old interfaces being phased out, some of us still use them... TV's tend to have VGA rather than DVI, granted there are more mobo's now for media pcs with integrated hdmi...

Having run compo's for clients at work, I know it can sometimes take days to go through all the entries to verify they are legit / correct etc.

I've never noticed any serious problems with file sharing from Samba, if anything I've noticed the opposite and Samba actually quicker than Windows.

Boards i've seen work without a dedicated graphics, have all had onboard in one form or antoehr (ATI Rage ones often in servers) but i'll believe some exist that boot without graphics :)

Nice, I've got a similar box but build using the OpenFiler project rather than Freenas, being Linux it does have the better hardware support and a pretty similar feature set.

I wouldn't mind them killing XP so much, if they had an alternative for "older" hardware - not everyone wants to, or needs to upgrade to dual core 4GB+ ram just have their OS run acceptably....

hehe, that was different for a compo. A few little bugs with teh slider, I managed to 'pile' a few squares up and had to re-shuffle to get them back out.

Slowed it down a tiny bit, and its now quieter...

Slowed it down a tiny bit, and its now quieter than my existing fans and still giving very good air flow... time for me to investigate a fan controller :D
