I've had the most success with parted magic - you have to boot to it from a USB stick but that would suit you down to the ground as you have no space to install anything else.

Personally I'd not bother with a lens that zooms to 300mm that doesn't have some form of image stabilisation (which that one doesn't) as you'll have to hold it ridiculously still for it to be usable....
