freaking lame. Lawsuits are out of control in this world. Instead of them beign practical and legit they seem to just be a way to make a quick buck these days.

Society annoys me.

In a way, I kinda feel bad for the old lady, who has clearly been given bad legal advice and stands to lose her life savings to some blood-sucking lawyer.

And if she WINS, dear lord, then I might just sue the US Dept of Justice for being a bunch of spazzes

Oh, and while I'm ranting, I find it OH SO amusing that all this fuss is over content that, when you boil it down, is essentially the birds & the bees. I'm not saying it should be an labelled feature of a computer game, but considering that game involves gang culture, racial sterotypes, killing people, simulated crime, misuse of weapons, and some quite arresting language, common sense would dictate a little digital shagging isn't actually a big deal at all.

But don't let something like common sense get in the way of an "important issue" like shielding our youth from human reproduction. It's the same disproportionate overreaction that they had to the Janet Jackson Superbowl thing, and the sheer lunacy of it all is neatly summarised in South Park epsiode 801 http://www.southparkstudios.com/show...d1=801&id2=115

"Right. So lets get this straight, ma'am. You purchased the game with a Mature rating for a minor, a game which contains violence, drug references and allows you to pimp hookers (amongst other things). You then realise your 'mistake', and forbid the child play it. Then when the scandal breaks, and the title has had it's rating changed, you cry wolf and sue, even though the child has not, under your own instructions, played the game?"

That is in fact so true and Rockstar will win this if it goes to court...

Well i thank god for the sensibility of the BBFCs rating system of 12-15-18. 17M for the americans is such a damn stupid rating. I mean, over there you can drive, marry and have sex from 16 onwards in some(all) states but youd still need an adult to buy the game for you. But not only that, im assuming it's from ANY age below 17?? They should have more defined age ranges like over here. And i totally agree with you that somehow, the simulated violence and crime, clear bad language and racial stereotyping is "oh so much less" than simulated sex as well. I mean, everyone has sex, right? But it's not like everyone goes out and does the other things in GTA.

the whole reason the sex thing became such a huge issue is its a perfect PR for any government official.. in this case Hilary Clinton. I bet she doesnt even care.. but it got her media attention and she was doing the "right" thing.

Most parents dont know it involves gangs, hookers etc etc etc. They think its just an overly violent game (i know because I used to work at Gamestop selling this very game). In all reality I doubt anyone really truely is completely and utterly offended. Theres so much media that shows this sort of stuff theres no way.. unless they are sheltered in the middle of nowhere in which case they woudlnt have the network connection or access to the media to have unlocked it in the first place.

its all just a giant excuse for PR, and people to try and make a quick buck. People are sad. Society is sad. I wish I could just be a hermit.. but I enjoy the benefits of society too much.. and I like large screen TV's with cable television and broadband internet :-D

**** her and everyone else involved with this video game violence crap. I think we should just let them take away the games for a while. Maybe then they will notice that all crime in the universe isnt caused by games, but Im sure they will decided that TV was the real culprit after all, and after that fails, maybe it was those shifty eyed toasters in your kitchens.

Ridiculous, this lady bought something that was M rated for a 14 year old anyway, so wtf? What differance in the end does it make if the rating was changed to AO after the fact, its the same game isnt it? Obvioulsy she did a pretty poor job of actually researching what GTA SA was before she got it. But watch out! now its AO and NOW it's a big deal.

And to cap off my rant regarding the above, why dont all of you morons out there do some actual parenting instead of letting the ESRB do it for you. </rant over>

She... bought... the... game... when... she... knew... it... was... for... 17... and... older...

It's these kind of people that exist now that make me hate the world and want to live in the 40's and 50's where your own dumbass was blamed for mistakes.

I'm with the granny here...

I mean, the game says 17 or older, and she's 81.
The box has to say CAN be bought only by 17 or older person. CANNOT be played by a person younger than 17.

I mean, cmon, are you stupid?!
Those things HAVE TO BE ON THE BOX!

I hope the granny wins at court and this fu***** company that did GTA SA has to close because of that.

It's Grand Theft Auto!? A Mature young adult/adult game, not some little kid's game! What did they expect! You can slit a persons throat and they are throwing a fit over something that would have been impossible to unlock without hacking the game.

Edit: or kill someone with a Dildo. lol.

In that case she should be suing the ESRB not Rockstar Games since its their rating system, not rockstars.

Rockstar games did nothing but develop a game that catered to what a lot of people want. Ive seen many a parent come into the store and we would tell them as they buy this thing for their chicl of 12 years old, "You do know that this game has violence, gangs and prostitution in it not suitable for anyone under the age of 17?" They reply by asking their child "did you know this?" and the kid says "yeah but bobby has it" and the parent thinks on it a minute and then says "yeah its ok.."

Rockstar shoudlnt be sued. ESRB shoudlnt be sued. It has a rating on it saying "Titles rated M (Mature) have content that may be suitable for persons of age 17 and older. "

Looks like to me that covers everything your above argument said it should. Content suitable for persons age 17 and older.. meaning if you are not 17 or older, you should not have access to the content within. That means you shoudlnt buy it. That means you shoudlnt play it. That means you shoudlnt own it, borrow it, rent it, caress it, touch it, look at it, smell it.. whatever... you choose.

For anyone who would like to read a great article that shines a comical light on just how irrational this whole thing is check this link.

I think the kid should sue the granny for being stupid. Its not as if the ESRB label is hard to spot.

/Beat me to it! Was playing CSS.
