Good start, the help link takes you to a 404 at Google Maps.

Looks ok, but i think not including compatibility with MSN is a bad idea- it stops people like me using it

Considering Google and Microsoft are fierce rivals, I doubt either side would ever agree to it.

Hmm downloaded it, looks pretty nice compared the clutter of msn. Need to find someone else who is on it so I can test out the chat features.

Doesn't seem to be compatible with firefox for me, anyone else having this problem when checking mail? Other than that it's very nice and clean, haven't been using MSN for years (Ad and clutter free GAIM all the way!) so it's all good

GUI is nice and quick. Ranaming contacts is good (something *every* IM should have...) Although there's no tabbed windows, seemingly random timestamping, annoying bubble which pops up...It's not too bad overall, and it's great that they actually condone (and show how to set up) third party applications for unsupported platforms. Going to give the VoIP a go tonight I think, although it's not meant to be quite as good as Skype.

Eh?

Or are you refering to the fact that the OSX client for Google Talk is iChat, thanks to Jabber?

LOL ... As good as skype? Lets hope not, skype sucks ....

Best clarity VoiP i have ever used is Picophone. You can only dial IP addresses at the moment, and sometimes have to try a few times to get through. However, its almost perfect. The clarity is comparable to a telphone call, and there is none of that stupid mic pickup volume settings (the thing that turns the mic on when you talk) as you can talk over each other and still hear everyone else in the conversation. VOIPerized is also worth a try, not quite as clear as picophone but you get a messenger style interface for calling people.

Ill be trying the google one though.

I see that it says 'free VOIP'. Anyone know if they mean like Ventrilo where you can just chat between VOIP clients, or can you actually make a Skype-style phone call to someone with a normal phone?

Nah it's just between contacts on your list afaik. Unless they introduce a pay-monthly kinda thing to call non-VoIP phones.
