I remember watching a similar thing on BBC's "Click Online" where the presenter boiled a Flash stick and hit it with a golf club, among other tests. That one wasn't even advertised as being durable, so I should think that this stick would outlive its owner (if it wasn't obsolete so quickly).

That's a wee bit excessive...but cool, nonetheless.

I find it interesting that it still worked after being boiled.

I don't care who you are or what you think, that's one cool piece of hardware!

In all fairness, running it over with a car is less pressure than just standing on the thing (so it's the only contact point between yourself and the floor), as car tires disperse the weight over so much area.

But just goes to show....

I still want one. Hopefully it being in a pocket won't have quite those effects, but it should last anyways.

We would have to say that Corsair have done quite a good job at making your memory safe under the normal circumstances and a bit beyond
An understatement if I ever did read one. I have one of these on a keyring and it never lets me down.

I saw this one too a while ago. I think it's a similarity in most flash drives. The BBC used a bog standard one and that held up fine (did the car test too ). I just think it's a corsair gimmick.

The voyager memory sticks are great it has to be said. You get all this 'durability' and there not even that much more expensive than ur normal no-name product!

Mine survived an 80mph motorcycle accident with far better memory retrieval than I did...

Twas in the pocket of my leathers which didn't do quite as well.

Had to replace lid, leathers and bike, but the Corsair was fine

I had a 16 meg sony memory stick die on me from sitting in my wallet for a few months... that didnt make me happy... I had put one though the wash before though, and it was ok.

I dropped my old 128mb flash drive in the snow... found it about a week later (lucky, as it's fairly light grey color and blended in well), works fine to this day. That's the thing with no moving parts... it's hard to break the head off a hard drive from a strong shock or something, as there's no hard drive head to break.

Am I the only one who thinks this was rather useless? I mean, yeah I like to run over my computer components once in a while with my car... I mean yeah they survived under such harsh conditions, but a keeping them in a wool pocket would simply render the whole thing useless by a little zap of static. Unless they have the rubber connector cover for transportability. That of course would be the ultimate transportability.
It would be better if they invested this research into making harddrives more damage resistant.
