Maybe it will take off? who knows! i can't say that i would consider buying one tho. who buys a console if they don't want the latest titles. if a console doesn't have good, well know games available for it then i don't think it ever has a chance of doin very well.

No one will buy it especially after the ******** that went down last time, you might get a few misguided parents buy it for their kids if it is a few bucks cheaper than the other consoles but otherwise they are flogging a dead horse.

The casual gamer has never even heard of Phantom, so unless they plan a massive advertising campaign it's doomed to failure.

Fo' sheezie, my neezie. It's not going anywhere at this rate...I think it's produced by the same people who are helping Valve write "Lost Coast."

But hey, no one can sue them for name misrepresentation, at least..."Phantom" definitely fits the bill.

I'm looking forward to this. It seems to be a different way to approach gaming. If it's reasonably priced and has some decent titles, then who knows? I'd like to see it sooner rather than later, however. They would be wise to release it later next year when all the XB360/PS3 hype has died down.

I quite liked the [H]ardOCP debacle. They pointed out the facts, and Infinitum just wanted to hide the truth

Oh we all like the truth, but I don't think HardOCP much liked the legal issues. Just goes to show how censored "free speech" can be I suppose.

I'm with Tulatin - just give it up guys. Spend the money developing something that stands a chance. Nintendo as it stands looks like the Gamecube will be their last (semi-)successful console, as it sounds like the Revolution will be anything but. Though I don't like there really only being two choices (CPUs and GPUs anyone? The two big guys then a couple of oddballs for a niche market), their approach is doomed to failure.

we've been "waiting" for the phantom for about 4 years.... even before the xbox and the gamecube release. This is BS , how could they have been working for so long on a console , they would have (and suposedly did) to change the hardware every 8 months..... wich means more work lol

No one new can get on this market. Only microsoft did because , well.... money isnt a problem

if even Nintendo cant keep up (talking about the gamecube , not the gb/c/a/sp/micro) then how could some unknown console win a satisfying part of the market

Impossible

Sort of like when consoles such as the 3DO and Shaguar tried to walk the gaming earth in the olden days - and what happenned to them?

Well said.

"expecting to attract casual gamers who do not want the most hard-core experience"

Umm... well good luck with that one

If, by some strange and curious turn of events, they do manage to launch before Christmas (...look! There goes another flying pig...), you can just imagine the cries of despair on Christmas morning when loads of kids find that they've been bought a Phantom instead of that nice shiny new Xbox360 they were hoping for.
The only way it will sell is being bought as presents by parents who don't know any better.
No self-respecting gamer will be seen dead with on under their arms...

The actual game service looked cool, kind of like steam but I can't belive he downloaded theif 3 in that short time. and the idea of offering the console is very misguided.
