Same here - difficult to boycott something you don't actually use

In terms of the wider picture (notwithstanding the fact that these are allegations and didn't offer any proof that I could see), there are so many companies worldwide that indulge in "ethically corrupt behaviour" - if we boycotted them all, we'd never get any work done

I don't see how this is cutting a deal. They're assuming that an American company in China would be operating under American business laws, which isn't the case at all. Hey guess what! In communist countries, the government influences business, not the other way around!

a corperation trying to get into the ever growing chinese market can hardly say 'no' to the chinese goverment when they make a request within the law.

yahoo did what anyone else would have done, may not be ethical but most business isnt.

If I were in charge of yahoo, I would have never expanded into china... It's not worth it but I'm not and the only alternative I see is pulling out of china. A choice that would lose the leaders of that company their jobs. Life is unfair and I support what that journolist did but our culture is such that yahoo once in china had no choice.

I think what cisco did is much worse... setting up the worlds largest censorship system.

Yahoo, Yahoo log, whatever are you people on about?
I know it exists, but only have a foggy idea of what they actually do. A searchengine, mail, then what? I really cba.

I still use yahoo messenger for one reason- it kicks ass with webcams. It's the best IM service out there for it, unless there's something else I don't know about.
