[fanboy] haha... all this waiting and it can't beat tthe 7800s (even at HL2 and thats for ATI)
[/fanboy]but seroiusly this is quite disspointing I would thought more of CF.... ![]() EDIT: The next questions is how much is this "Extreme" preformance gonna cost ? -Frank

Frankly craptastic going by the summaries. TBH I thought it would be. Their HL2 numbers seem really low all around though, I play 1600x1200 4xAA 8xAF and I must average 100FPS (single 6800GT right now, comeon someone buy the other!) Hopefully they can sell off of hype.

There's also first benches of the R520 (dubbed Radeon 1800)...also not promising. But it's a leak from a partner, not an actual total review of the product...let me find the linky.
Here.

Quite sad even for me, nvidia fan. I though it would win or at lest be very close to 7800. I guess nvidia will not be significantly dropping prices. Maybe mass production units will bench a bit better...

I'm sure ATI will have it on par if not better than Nvidia before its release

For some bizarre reason, I read that entire article as being about CrossFire, and utterly didn't read the R520 bit.
WTF?? I'm spending too much time on CrossFire at the moment, clearly. Updating now. |

If this is the best ATI is able to do, why are they even trying?
Their dual graphics solution, if this data pans out, is terrifically bad, and leaves room for no market. No game cant be run by the 7800 GTX; in SLI, even Battlefield 2 can be run at high resolutions. As a result, people will be playing their games at super high resolutions when they have dual graphics-but Crossfire cant do decent dual graphics at more than 1600x1200 (if you can call 60 hz decent). This is just plain un-usable IMO.

lame... seriously the 7800gtx isn't a very big leap performance wise over the 6800gt and yet this card ati have been working on for months more than nvidia is owned on a game made for ATI cards. Unless these benchmarks are false/biased I have no idea why you would get one of these cards unless you could pick them up alot cheeper than the 7800gtx.

Seeing what ATi's response to the 7800 GTX was one of the things I was waiting for before I upgrade... looks like I was worried over nothing... it's clearly pants. 2x 7800 GTX's for me then
![]() Crossfire looks like a heap of steaming dung as well IMO. Sod it.. ATi have had their chance with me, and already blew it by convincing me to buy a 9800pro, which is rubbish as well. What makes me laugh is the expected prices for these heaps of total donkey sick! Pay more get less... Mmm.. yes please... NOT.

Hey what now? The 9800 Pro was a wonderful card in its time. Its superseded by last generation's tech of course, but still, it was great at the time.

Indeed. But let's not get caught up on 9xxx/FX because ATi clearly took that one. But nVidia's won with both 6- and 7-series IMO (6-series is debatable with the x850XT, but not once you throw SLI in, or availability). I can't wait for nVidia's 9-series

6 and 7 series, however, have shaped NVidia to be a clear winner for this round.

Makes me glad I made the switch from ATI to Nvidia.
The 9800 pro is a great card by the way - that card held up real well. I'm playing Battlefield 2 with it currently and it plays just fine. Makes me wonder why I bought a 7800 GT - although I haven't played with the 7800 yet - going to be re-building my system in a week or so. It is pretty sad to see what's happened to ATI. But I guess this goes in cycles - ATI in the lead then Nvidia in the lead - back and forth. Would have expected more from ATI but you can't win them all. I honestly don't think it's all that fair to compare SLI systems to non-SLI systems. I like to see 1 card systems vs. 1 card systems. You take a one card ATI solution and then compare it to a much more expensive SLI Nvidia solution - It damn well should be faster for the cost of a second card. When ATI gets their crossfire out then I think you have a fair comparison ATI's crossfire vs. Nvidia's SLI. Let the better solution win. I'm no fan boy of either company - let the best card/solution win.

OK how is this benchmarks for crossfire when none of the benchmarks are for any card in crossfire? No **** SLI 7800s are faster than a single ATI, i expected that. Alot of posts in here are dissing something we have little info on. Ill wait a few more days till all the REAL benchmarks come out.
