ok so does anyone know if this is like a battery? as it we put it in the lappy or is it a mini tower like thing.. it's own standalone unite.??
Also if it runs on something.. does that mean we get to unscrew a cap on the lappy and pour liquid into it?

I say it's a brilliant thing... though I belive airline companies might not be too happy about it depending on how flammable the liquid is (concentration)

Still the x-ray scanners in airports should be able to see through it better than batteries.

^^ you can hide your futuristic gun in your battery, if you press a button it folds open.... omg I've seen too much movies...

But serious, I think it's a great idea... but can u put ur bottle of vodka into it (although that is if u r desperate and need to save something at the last moment)

It's a stand-alone unit. Calling it a 'mini tower' is a bit unkind - the box is 1 Litre in volume, meaning it's 1000cm3. So, for example, looking at the photos this might be 20cm long, 8cm high and 6.25cm wide - that would give you a 1L box.

Devices can be powered via USB, according to the press release, though I'm not sure if a laptop's USB port is really designed to take power *in*. I assume this is just one option, and that they'd consider a standard AC power plug instead.

And no - there'll be no pouring of anything into anything. As the story states, it will run on 200cc cartridges: just swap them in / out when empty.

No pricing details were released by LG Chem, which isn't surprising given that they haven't begun to commercialise the product. However, since it lasts "only" 400 cycles, you'd hope it wasn't TOO expensive. I mean, it probably will be, but the fuel cell itself will fail < 18 months with daily use.

The fact that the military is a potential customer means lifespan nor value for money is really a consideration, I guess.

Wow. Methanol + Electicity = Potential bomb....

Good idea though. The current battery solution is in need of a fricken' replacement.
