I've seen too many crap action films to go w00t just over special effects. It's gotta be down to the script - sounds stupid I know but just think Star Wars!

they should just give him like a 100k budget or so to do it, probably be better (go watch Bad Taste and Braindead if you dont believe me, such awesome films and so cheap )

This is going to be spectacular... I wonder if they are going to keep the sound effects from the guys you kill... I think if they do it'll make it more cartoony. What worked for starwars will probably not work for other movies.

looking at that exec producer link and what they do it doesn't look much like he is gonna have much involvement in the actual film, just the business side of it

That aside, I'm sure he wont want his name on any old crappy film so i'm sure he'll do as much as he can to make it great!

Microsoft probably paid him $$$ to have him executive produce... or in other words endorce (sp?) the film. People will see his name and go nuts. I'm not saying the movie will suck.. I'm very much excited just like the rest of you.. but as eek said, its possible he will have say in the creation.. or none at all. It really depends on how the team, other producers and director view him. If they are open to his suggestions and seek them out.. he can be very involved. If not.. well.. not.

Regardless just the fact that WETA is working on the FX has me extremely excited. And the problem with star wars wasnt that it was special FX heavy.. its that it was directed by lucas who is still stuck in the late 70's early 80's. But thats an argument for a whole different thread

I wonder if the movie will show Spartan-117 being choosen as a child, and whether it will give any more light on the halo universe beyond what was in the game - considering bungie are having a great deal of input to it.

Also, does anyone else feel that the film will be lacking if they decide not to use Jen Taylor as the voice of Cortana, and make the representation of our favorite AI someone recognisable as an actress - in which case the voice wouldn't match up...a minor point I know. Then there is the issue of whether they will 'copy' the scene in the new doom movie that uses first person perspective - as to nod towards the origins of the story.

I feel that there is too much of a margin to make a mess of this movie - and Peter Jackson as a director rather than a merely background role would be preferable, yet we can't have it all - I am excited about what WETA can bring to the show though.

And no doubt there will be the sequal - so does that mean unlike Halo where there was no indication of 'the arbiter' will the film introduce him/and the prophets so those who don't know the backstory won't be totally confused.

Hmmm - can think of plenty more but would probably show how much of a geek I am when it comes to Halo - oh well - thoughts people?

sounds over-rated, overhyped with poor design values, piss poor plot and probably appeal to kids...

so it really is just like the game then.

This sounds very much like a marketing stunt, by associating Peter Jackson’s name (and in turn the success of Lord Of The Rings) they will have all but guaranteed an increased audience.

*sigh* im tired of these halo/half-life battles. I didnt like the story to halo 2 at all. I liked halo 1 and the first two books (didnt read the 3rd) but the halo 2 story just kind of ruined it for me. I think that even if bungie gets a movie they want and approve of, it might not be too great because of what i saw in halo 2. (allthough I only beat it once then went strait to multiplayer for a few months. So i should get re-aquainted with it) I'll keep high hopes though that they will pull it off.

to me the main question is what the story for the movie will cover. will it be just the parts covered by the first game, or will it start before that? will it finish with the destruction of the first halo or will they take it all the way to the second one?
if they stick to the 3 novels and the second game (wich is not novelized yet) i think they have plenty to make a movie out of each, but that would probably just be interesting for hard core halo fans, specially the first novel that deals with the origins of the whole spartan program and all.
another question would be who would be playing the role of master chief? of course, this is only important if the decide to show his face, if not, then it could be anybody. i could go for a movie that didn't show his face (just like the game) is they keep the original voice from the game.

I think the point of the movie is that it's going to fit in after the third game - so you've got a Halo trilogy of games, and then have the story finished off by the movie to bring the saga to an end (or at least, to the point at which they make Halo 4).
