yes, Battlefield 2, FEAR, DOOM 3, Quake 4, Half-Life 2 (to an extent) and AOE3 (I think) to name a few.

I'm wondering if ATi are ever going to catchup with Nvidia now...given that these rumours are true..if Nvidia can beat the X1800XT, before it even comes out..! I guess the only thing is that ATi might be able to release a buffed up X1800XT, like some sort of PE maybe. But again...it's going to be another wait..and another £70 or whatever knowing ATi...but, applause for Nvidia, they are really mincing ATi up this year!

yea, its harsh being ATI right now, trying to sell an inferior, over priced, unavailible product.
I want a 512mb 7800GT!!!
with drivers, if I had a 256mb, could I have a 512mb card too?

Hmm, some more news here. nVidia is also working on another card, well they must anyway, they're not going to be sitting down all day watching the money roll in!

No, it's not. Both cards' ram hold the same data in SLi mode; it's redundant, not additional. RAID1 vs RAID0 in effect.

Still, yay! I'm more interested in what it does for price points on the other 7-series cards.

I don't see HL2 benefitting. Lost Coast maybe, but that's all of fifteen minutes worth of gameplay. I can max it out on a 6800GT without issue. The other games mentioned definately though. I'm curious about FEAR, it just seems to have the "feel" of a game that simply needs more horsepower to run smoothly, rather than not enough space for textures and whatnot.

maximum texture detail can use well over 250MB for texture memory.

I wonder what ever happened to these 512mb wondercards?
There's hardly any information about them, found some pictures @ www.ga-forum.com

I'm a bit sceptic about the clockspeeds displayed in the first image, I'm not totally sure, but I think 1800mhz ddr isn't very likely. Simply because they would need to change the chips to something more expensive (as the chips used in the 256mb models don't go that far) and that would effect their chances in competing with the x1800xt.

What do you think?

Well the leaked release dates came and went, either nVidia are having problems with yield/stability or they were just vapourware

Awoken: the 'leaked' date was clearly incorrect, but not by much

Sathy: there is hardly any infomation out there because there is an NDA in place. There's at least one lucky person with an early retail delivery, but all press (including bit-tech) have to hang tough for a little while longer.

Don't panic - you know where to go for the best review

Ah... the 14th was the second date bandied about, looks like we're sitting tight till Monday. Two launches in two weeks and if this launch is another hard launch then I think we can safely say that nVidia have it in the bag this year. Roll on next gen and the contest begins anew!

You've made my weekend Pope
