Just tried out foldershare, nice piece of software.
I can now access my home PC when at work, I know there are lots of software options, but this is just so simple, nice web based access to your files.

Hmm, i was readignthe agreement, and it says
"ByteTaxi does not
maintain such files or data on its server, but it may log certain
information regarding the files you use in conjunction with the
FolderShare service, such as file name and file size"

That got me kinda paraniod, as MS knowing what your transfering is kinda scary (i was gonna use it for my music library) depending on what you use it for

I see what you mean, I was wondering whether files were stored on the servers or not. The only way to be safe I get is to rar your files with a password on it, then transfer it. I doubt MS will be taking your files and try to crack the password!

If I didn't know my school will have done something to block it, I'd consider it. Till then I think I'll stick with my webserver. And the fact that I don't trust microsoft worth a crap. Not that I keep sensitive info in word documents (or that the boys at Redmond know how to open opendocument-based files ), but I suppose the keygen rars erm... letters about how I hate them in My Docs might not be taken too lightly.

It says that they dont keep the files, or view them even. They just record the names ans sizes. And i suppose that a 605mb file titled "mission imposible" might set off alarms, and maybe prosecution? i dunno if they would, but they could i suppose

So who do you think would be the most benificial from folder share? I can't see it as being used to be a form of Media sharing. Which would be just about the only thing that would make it interesting to the mass public. Other than that right now the Live site just looks complicated and useless. But I guess being microsoft they have the ability to integrate it, so we'll see what type of integration they can throw at us to make this thing usefull. (and if your thinking, news and search engine... your not really ringing my bell)
