Not a chance I'll even consider switching back unless it now has tabbed windows, buddy alias, option to strip emoticons...

...and support multiple protocols...

looks fancy but im sure thats all it is. With their new network troubleshooter tool its already worse than its ever been. I used to connect perfect every time but now i have to troubleshoot and repair 3 times in order to connect.

It's a nice feature in any decent IM client; I just cannot comprehend how people have like 10 messenger windows open when they could just have one.

Yup, buddy aliases are in there. In my opinion though, Live Messenger is junk. The revamp of the appearance is nice and all, but in actual use it just seems too bloated. There's also some annoying parts about it as well. Like when you move your mouse over your contact list it expands the contact details to show you their picture and some buttons, which seems nice at first, but it just causes your contacts to move up and down annoyingly as you move your mouse to pick one. I also find the interface kind of sluggish compared to the current Messenger. I hope that these things are fixed up before WLM it is released, because after using it for a bit I decided that I like MSN 7.5 much better.

P.s. Arkuden, there's a QFE patch that fixes a lot of sign-in issues and greatly speeds up the login process.

Bah...fancy features my ***!

I don't use messenger that often, but when I do, I turn off all the useless carp (user images, emoticons, gaming features etc).
Even thought I'm running @ 1280*1024, Messenger seems huge (dimensions) considering it's 'just a chat program'...

Hopefully there'll be custom skins that make it look smaller...

Just looks more bloated than the current messenger. No proper new features then? I want to see tabbed browsing, different status for groups and winshading amongest other things.

Oh well back to mess patched copy of 7.5 for now.

It doesn't look all that exciting. It looks a little bit shinier, more bloated, and definitely NOT revolutionary. Hooray microsoft.

If your passport ID is not provisioned for the Windows Live Messenger Beta, you will not have the full functionality enabled. The invitation the first 5 app submitters get enables them to access the full functionality of the v8 client.

I'm assuming you are using one of the various proxy hacks that have been developed to allow people to use the v8 beta. If thats what you are doing, you're basically running v8 in v7.5 mode.

And, no need to have people email you for the beta bits. They are available for download from MSDN. But, like I said above, they don't do you a lot of good without a Passport ID that has been provisioned for the beta.

-Scott
so guys you're not getting all the functionality... whatever that maybe?
