Actual conversation:

Bloke: Hey wtf!? I didn't add you to my buddy list!
MSN-bot: Correct. I'm so useful that I added myself.
Bloke: Did you know your mom's playing tonight?
MSN-bot: Wrong. But I'll be playing with your mom tonight. [satanic cackle recorded by Bill Gates]

You know, like those ones where you chat with God.

Anyways... hmm... I'll stay away myself. Good in concept I guess, but until Clippit can do my homework for me, I'd rather avoid microsoft trying to interpret my thoughts.

Yeah Jads got a point about the Live! experience.. ehm..

They only play what they want you to see, like 140 advertisments in 30 minutes. And all the things i really want to see, i cannot see because all of the DRM invested content. If i still want to see it, i will be flashbanged by CounterTerrorist Units after watching 10 seconds for my region "illigal" content. Get suid by all mayor movie mafia scum. Because i was watching their 10 seconds of a serie/movie. Because they could have sold 4.000.000 copies if i did not watched that 10 seconds...

Intrestingly, this feature, minus the bot, has been available for ages on the 'nix alternative to MCE(MythTV). The bot sounds intresting, but ultimately will probably be one of those things people don't use. Anything that goes on humans talking to automatons, wont work imo, untill they understand almost anything we say, not just a few well constructed sentences.

Who wants to talk to a computer? You could just be presented with a list. Plus, would it understand normal im conversation?

talking to the computer would be potential faster than navigating the web yourself as most sights are badley designed and you ahve to go through many menus and screens to get what you want. It has the posibillity of being a feature that dosen't suck, but as it will be crippled by DRM and Im never upgrading to vista then I wont be using it.

Yeah... Seems like a useless feature to make the product look more flashy, instead of actually providing people with improvements where they count, like system stability.

I wonder if you can get it to record a sho while you are away. Even if it could, the show will be infested with drm etc. Nice idea tho, pity ms implemented it though.

@Slider It is a very rare thing that my XP machines crash/freeze/otherwise stuff up

@who_me_33 and because it was MS it must suck? I am not saying that it will be awesome but saying it sucks just because its MS is a bit lame.

Personally I think that vista will be worth the upgrade from XP.

<A88> will become famous soon enough
I have to agree with cebla, the last place I want to see a bunch of blind Microsoft haters is here, try reading the Register if you're going to have that kind of attitude.
It's nice to see Microsoft going for simple improvements at the moments instead of trying to show us their 'visions' of wireless dogs who woof your email to you whilst you're watching the tv etc. They look set to have a pretty good year with the Vista, Office12, Windows Live Messenger and dare I say it, IE7 generation of products. Let's hope they can keep it up and start offering the standard and usefulness of products that Google and others are starting to become good at producing.<A88>
