Wait... "later this year." I hope that doesn't imply that we're going to see Vista before Duke Nukem Forever, or even this year. I'd imagine his sales will be superb, what with only being able to digitally "buy" the album over a service that's exclusive to nonexistant software.

But yeah, what with Bill's set of the world's deepest pockets, you think they could have done a bit better.

The Timberlake tie-in is guaranteed to get a userbase of teens using Urge, the traditional MTV audience.

We suspect that for most of the audience, as well as for most bit-tech readers, the availability of Timberlake on Urge isn't exactly going to make Vista WMP a 'must-have' product.
Yeah those darn teens....

*looks around nervously*

All this hib-nob about vista really is making wanting to stay with XP. I'm shaking my stick at those fools just now...

MTV integrated into Windows? Does anyone else think that MTV was exceptable when they played music in the 90's? And that now It's just a commercial?

This "integration" will take away from valuble other system resources and virtual memory. It should be optional.

Hang on!

Since WinXP had to remove WMP from it's EU products due to EU law (or at least offer two versions), how does MS get away with a "deeply integrated" WMP in Vista? Surely they are gonna have to do the same thing again? Even moreso, since it's got MORE features and is even MORE necessary?

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE IS MY FAVORITE!!!!!!!

i'm buying vista for this sole reason now...

people will still illegaly download music, so it really doesnt matter. and even if he only sold his music thru URGE instead of a cd, i don't think he has a big enough fanbase for anyone to truely care.

good try bill...

Yeah, but Mr Bill just pays the fines, they only removed wmp a year or something after xp was released. It will be downloaded with vista update probably anyway. I agree that justin timberlake was a bad choice of music, I don't know anyone who likes him.

If Bill Gates thinks that Justin TImberlake is gonna increase sales he is sadly mistaken. I don't know about you guys but last time I checked 13-17 year old girls aren't the majority of O/S buyers.

Now had Bill said, "Atreyu will be offering their next CD exclusively on Urge" I would have picked it up immediatly. Sadly enough Urge and Bongo are probably going to be loaded up with so much DRM its not going to be funny.

Also, I tried to get Bongo but it wouldn't install cause WIndows XP 64 Professional isn't supported by a Microsoft product.

How?

Bill Gates pays Justin Timberlake cash to endorse his album on Urge, no 13 year old girls buy Windows Vista cause they are too busy in the mall buying the CD.

IMO, he could have gone with something a little bit more vanilla so that way at least his promotion would hit its target audience.

Plain and simple, if you want Vista/Urge to succeed package that poop in prebuilt machines like Dell's cause the common user who buys a pre-built machine is only looking to download/burn music.

its just a clever technique to get extra publicity:
now everybody is talking about it , so their are more people who heare of it
And their probebly won't be anyone who wont buy it because the first availabel
musique isn't his/hers favorite

Sory to jump on the WTF Bill wagon but come on JT. His music is ok (coming from a rock fan) but damn out of all the musicians in the world. WHy not go with a band like metalica or a raper like 50 cent or a pop artist like kelly clarkson. They are all big in the US and my guess is alot more people would buy Vista for them. I know my siter would be like Kelly Clarkson "Matt(me) please install vista on my laptop(she is 20 but has no idea about computers)"

Me personally if like a bunch of indie bands or hard rock bands said we are only selling on urge i WOULd still probally not get it becuase the money. NO one in the world (that is not incredibly rich) would buy a operating system just for a cd or two (possible more).

That is just my 2 pennies.

I installed Itunes the other day and tbh I can't see what all the fuss is about. So far I havn't see any reason to use it over Media Player other than I can play the stuff I buy at there music store.

What would be better would be a DRM were you can use whatever music player you want and it doesn't cost manufactures to include support for it on mp3 players.
