I like the Idea of home Pc companies making Gaming computers, but i dont think you get the appropriate options that you would get with a fully custom built computer from Scan 3XS or Vadim where you can choose case, cooling Ect.
A good point is that unlike a Dell XPS i think these could be quite good value, yet i still don't understand why some people are willing to put 1Tb worth of data onto Raid 0- one 36.4 GB Raptor and a 250 or 500GB storage HDD would have been a better choise! MAnkz |

Right... more "enthusiast" PCs with Intel processors.

The problem is with these type of systems is that they don't really look good. If people want to buy a PC with all the top-spec parts in (even if they don't have a clue what the numbers mean) then they probably will also want it to look good, to show off to their friends, and they are not likely to mod it. This, to anybody, looks like a bog-standard home PC.
Otherwise, it's good to see Dell getting some competition. |

All these PCs do is insure the customer doesn't get integrated graphics, which some "gamers" might find interesting, though its not that hard to do a little research.
The Pentium D 820 is the bottleneck for gaming in all of the first systems, and a 6600 128mb is laughable. |

ATM my friend is playing F.E.A.R. on a 64Meg Laptop graphics card, so even if it sounds bad, it still ok. Mankz- My families first computer was a Gateway, i remember trying to play Lemmings on it and making it Crash. |

REAL enthusiasts build their computers.
This genre of "gaming/enthusiast" machine is aimed at punkass rich fools who have to have the best. They think they need a "gaming" PC to play solitaire and think CPU stands for ComPUter. </rant> |

Well... bad choice of parts, probably overpriced, stupid name (at least XPS sounds sorta cool). But, that's what sells. And WTF is with every system out there coming with MCE installed? The damned thing doesn't even have a tuner card (save the most high-end model).

It shows who they're aiming it at they stuck 1TB of aid 0 storage in it, can anyone here imagine losing 1TB of data to a single hard disk failure? That'd be a whole new meaning for the word pain.

the "enthusiast" banding is starting to be flung about when ever companies want to make a PC thats a bit more expencive than a cheaper on. And most of the time the only thing that changes is that they throw in an external (apposed to intergrated) grpahics card, increase the HDD space and beef up the intel CPU. I wounder what type of motherboard this thing has?
Im totally with Hybr1d with his rant and there is no way that i would touch 1Tb in RAID. But then you do have to think that this IS Gateway. They dont exactly make "decent" computers. They make inexpencive ones. My other halfs gateway laptop is an example of poor thought and construction as its HSF isnt nearly good enough to cool it.
