MacBook Pro receives Intel speed boost

http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2006/02...k_pro_upgrade/

A nice "free" upgrade but that doesn't magically invent £1500 for me to be able to order one

Can't help but be happy about free upgrades.

And if they actually start shipping them today even better!

Can't wait for mine to arrive

stil cant belive they went with intel concidering AMD has been showing them up in almost every benchmark. though intel seems to think it has an unlimited amount of money to throw around. i cant imagine what intels anual marketing budget is

Exactly .

There's a reason they are switching to the intel chips as intel have finally realised clock speed is not king!

The reason why apple switched is down to heat and efficiency , they simply couldn't get a g5 in a laptop without it cooking the thing.

MiNiMaL_FuSS will become famous soon enough
i thought all the early tests showed that the intel chip barely made a difference?

eh? comparing dual G5s to the intel DC core, maybe, but compared to the G4, hell no. the core duo blows its ass out of the water completely. only when running apps under rosetta does it not make a difference. hardly surprising, since the software is translating the program code to another instruction set on the freaking fly.
