Nice review, but not quite sure what you mean by this:
Quote:
the PS2 might sport graphics processing power to cry at
Do you mean that We Love Katamari makes only basic use of the PS2's graphical power, or do you mean that the PS2's graphical power is, by today's high standards, risible. If the latter, remember how people were in awe when the PS2 first hit the shelves? I wonder how long before we're saying exactly the same about the Xbox 360's and the PS3's "paltry" graphics power?!

thge claimed power of the PS2 was well above what it really casn do and as far as alot of peope were concerened the PS2's graphics power was always risible.

Katermeri Damarcy is however, genius. The first game is better though.

Surely you own some equipment that can act like a PS2, talk like a PS2 but not realy look like one with the right software? But of course you need to buy the game first.

Moving on from that...it looks like a very crazy game and to my experiance the most addictive games often lack the fancy graphics of more advertised ones.

News like this is OK because despite the game being on a console and this being a PC site, the effect Katamari and its release in the UK has had on gaming is quite profound and could affect the types of PC games getting released in the future. So it's well worth mentioning

How about a sister site to placate the console gaming masses? VG-Tech.net anyone?

Just to add, if you're thinking about getting this game. Stop! Just go and get it already mmkay? Even my Halo2 and Mac loving flatmate loves it, and he won't play anything that's not an FPS usually.
The review was spot on, you can'nt describe it, it's just great.
(and for the record I'm happy this was on the front page of Bit)

Ahh Katamari. I have not played the 2nd one yet (no PS2) but I played the first on a roomates PS2. This is the most hilarious game that I have ever played. You sit there, and you just laugh most of the time. The game is so obsurd, yet so fun. What other game do you get to start out smaller than a mouse, rolling up thumbtacks and erasors, and eventually end up so huge that you can roll up the entire building, later the entire town, and later the entire landmass that you started out at? The graphics are very simple but also consistent and smooth. The sound is great with good music and hialrious sound effects.

Game of the year tbh. My thumbs hurt. The other night I got to 3.6km with about 3 minutes spare. I felt on top of the world...

...because I was.

Glad you liked the review. I'm loving Katamari so much. After I've finished a review I seldom have time to play the game for much longer before I'm moving on to the next thing but I JUST CAN'T STOP ROLLING!

I like that Bit-Tech has a little place in it's heart for videogames and I agree with crayfish that there will be ideas that filter into PC gaming from videogames and vice versa. I think it's good to acknowledge what's going on in quarters other than our own field of interest. I generally keep up not only with all the different gaming platforms but even with genres of gaming that I'm not into because of that filter down effect. I like to know where all the influences and innovations are coming from.

My rolling is on hiatus since I just bought Shadow of the Colossus and Ico about 30 minutes ago.

Favourite cousin anyone? Gotta love Johnson's long head coupled with the alligator mask. Hilarious stuff.

oh yeah, my thumbs did start to loose feeling after the first solid day of play, is there any better mark of a good console game than one that gives you joypad thumb within a day of purchase?

I think we've a bigger videogame "place" than you think

The problem is, there are a lot of good ideas out there, but the people that make the games rarely hear them or they go on set standards and set routines that they know will make money. For example: make better graphics, more models, more wow effect, bigger multiplayer maps, etcetc Noone is willing to try totally new things because it might flop and then how do you then justify your job to your boss when your project is entirely in the red.
I realise quoting YOU, of all people on this is like preaching catholism to the Pope, but my comments are aimed generally.
