robots.txt won't do anything for them. The problem, as stated in the bit tech article is that people subscribe to the site, leech all of the content, then post elswhere. THEN google indexes it. I'm sure the same goes for yahoo.

I think the responsibility is the magazine's however. They have obviously taken step 1 in finding stolen content. They found images through google. however instead of folloing through (going to the site where the image is hosted, then suing them) they have taken the shortcut and are trying to sue google.

This is like getting rid of corners on streets becaus eyou can find drugs, and hookers on them.

What can google do? Really? Not bring up any results for "perfect 10"? This would leave legitimate searchers empty handed. Filter out filename from a list of perfect 10 © images? That would leave any images with the same name excluded. Filter exact file information? Same name, size, dimensions, etc? The people would, and probably already do resize, and resave them.

There is no way to filter out a site's content after it's already been stolen without harming both google, and regular users.

Okay, hands up if you've just dashed to enter 'perfect 10'. Look at all the free advertising they've got.

Apparently...Perfect 10 has sued just about everyone. They have tried to sue credit card companies, Amazon.com and a few others. Can post links to articles I have been looking up if anyone is interested.

basically...its a failing porn mag, that is trying to make a few extra bucks off of other companies doing better.

whine whine friggin whine. I'm sure it's so hard to just send an e-mail asking google to remove your indexed content, rather than suing them over it. Cash and publicity hungry scumbags.

They apparently sent a number of cease and desist letters to google. Some of which were followe dthrough with, most of which were not. (not certian why since google had not really replied in any of the other articles I read.

sadffffff is an unknown quantity at this point
how is google at fault here?! they didnt take a thing. they only made thumbnails of the content that OTHER people stole. if anything, perfect 10 should be thanking google for providing them an easy way to track down the people who ripped their content and reposted it.

google should fight this tooth and nail.

Meh, Google is slightly down in my books... to like a 9.5 right now. They're denying me from Adsense for absolutely no reason, formerly because the site was down when it wasn't and because the site had no content when it did. That said, I'd only put it up so i could feel good about myself, not really to make money.

GOOGLE LOST!

The 'natural model' site Perfect 10 has won its legal battle against Google over the search engine's use of thumbnail images from the site. A judge in California has ruled that Google infringed Perfect 10's copyright on the pictures by taking copies and storing them on its own servers.

Another battle sadly lost against COMPLETE STUPIDITY AND IGNORANCE.

Sadly, the link is from MacUser...
