All I can say is good. I like to see sony go down. They are trying to take over alot of things and this just proves they can't. I didn't like the ps2 any how (xbox fan).

Haha, that's quite funny though. Dunno why they thought they'd win that suit. Maybe it'll get all the Sony fanboys to hush for awhile.

Ok, maybe not but thats just funny. I've been trying to tell the people that I know that are in love with Sony that they will one day see the beginning of their demise, though you just can tell the fan-boys.

Unlucky for Sony though. [nelson] HA HA [/nelson]

It's not the motors mate. It's the force feedback technology that Immersion invented in it's own accord. Those nice Momo racing wheels with force feedback have a license from Immersion to use force feedback. I believe that the Xbox controllers now have a license from Immersion as well (that's why the 360 has force feedback controllers).

I will be sad to see the best console controller ever fade away but not sad to see Sony get what they deserve.

I guess obtaining a license might prove VERY expensive for Sony now. Perhaps they should have settled like Microsoft. Immersion will pretty much be able to charge whatever they like!

Best controller ever?!?!?! It was horrendously designed with little to no regard for the ergonomics of the human hands. I love the original xbox controller simply because it wasn't some wierd awkward shape like the PS2 (even if it was huge)

Personally I disagree, the xbox controller is way too big and the controls are in a funny place. I prefer the ps2 controller by miles as it's easy to use. But it's all down to personal preference.

What exactly is patented, the actual design of the mechanism, or the the actual shocks. If the former they could just create a differnt design, if the latter, that's a bit of a silly patent tbh.

Ha...good!

As for the PS2 pad being the best ever made...wtf?!

It just feels so cheap and nasty compared to the XBox and Gamecube pads. I do think that the analog sticks feel nice though, but the actual pad design is crap in terms of ergonomics - it just doesn't sit comfortably in the hands (and I still hate the 'dpad split into 4' idea...in fact, that's one of the few reasons I won't buy a PSP). And yes, I do own a PS2!

At the end of the day it's just a PS1 pad with analog...

well its an end of an era imo.
from my console days 9ps1) i wont ever forget how great these pads were. tonys hawks was never the same on the xbox/gamecube pads.
theres ALOT more people that use the ps2 adapters on their pc's than the rest of the other console pads out there so thats got to say something.

I never liked the official PS2 controller, found it way too small. Got a 3rd-party one that had much longer 'prongs' and found it suited my hands far better
