Nice idea, but a bit ghetto for my liking.

Not quite sure what is so clever about attaching a gyro mouse to a gun with duct tape?

He certainly wasn't kidding when he said it was his ugliest hack ever.

What would be really clever, is to put 4 IR leds working on different wavelengths at each corner of your screen, and use a pic to modify the serial data from the chip to calibrate the gun. A bit above my knowledge, but it would make a great project. DXR_13KE - a gyration is one of the coolest things ever invented, it is a wireless optical mouse, with a button on the bottom. If you hold the mouse in the air and hold down the button, you just have to tilt the mouse to control the cursor. It really is cool, although the usefullness is debatable.

That is cool. This guy and the guy who modded his NES to be a computer need to go into business, after it gets smoothed out a little.

Not that great a hack tbh. It doesn't even aim at what you're pointing the gun at. Good on him for the old school modding though. Must only be used while wearing a NES buckle though.

That doesn't matter, if you think about it, because if the gun on screen pointed exactly where your real life gun was pointing, the change in aim of the real life gun from one side of the screen to another would be very small. This technology would work best with a screen very close to your eyes; like goggles, which have a little mini LCD screen in them. Think the goggles with 1 big window covering both eyes, but instead of a window, you have a LCD screen. Then, the reality of the movement of your "real life gun" would feel more natural in relation to what you see, because the game you are playing is, effectively, all you see. If you play with the sensitivity settings on the mouse, and the gyration thingy is as accurate as some reviews say, then you would be able to create a much more realistic FPS gaming experience. I definitely will need to try this out. Pity the mouse costs $80.

Actually, I have seen the mouse for $30. (Please don't ask me where, I have no idea, but it was probably froogle or ebay.
