I have to remind my wife that she has to work in the morning sometimes, she gets so into Neverwinter Nights. And the minute there is any new roman or egyptian city building game, forget it. I give up and head to the pub. The upside? She understands to some degree my tech fetish, and the need for regular hardware upgrades.

As for geek women, they exist and are a delight. I encourage all of you that never leave your parents basement to get out and meet some!

The greater good and individual liberty are not opposites. In fact, nothing which suppresses individual liberty could ever help the greater good.

Why not make a game where you can beat up children... Beat that will mentally help all women who have made the regretable choice of going threw 9 months of hell and then another 17 years of even worse hell... I do pitty women. :P On the other hand all of my aunts and my mother play those ****** Windows game with those ****ing cards and **** so if these games were to be made by a small section of big developers like Valve or Monolith and you would charge a one time only €1,- fee to play these games I bet that would attract a lot of these "older women" and makes life easier for these developers. Since the next-gen costs only increase I think this would be a very good little income to cover a slight little bit of the costs plus it's easy as hell for someone who just finnished say... CryEngine 2, to make a simp,e game like mine sweeper.

Shameless plug, truly shameless.
And I believe "ladies" should have a few more e's when used in that context, a la Zapp Brannigan
I'm just hoping that _Kat_'s "opinions" are not indicative of male gamers in general...

I once got my nan to play quake3 on the dreamcast with me, wouldn't exactly say she's the gaming type. My old grandad played an hour and a half of final fantasy 9 though.

Well, there's "Silver Surfers" which describes elderly net users. Is Granny Gamers the equivalent?

Whenever I left vice city running my dad would always start playing, dont have to worry about my mom though, cant even find the big button marked "power".

As for women gamers, The sims and WoW are the only games I've seen women play regularly. Although, I have seen a girl who was pretty good at CS at a lan once.
